New Directions at the Boston Book Festival

On Saturday, October 15th, as part of the 2011 Boston Book Festival poets Michael Palmer, Forrest Gander, and Susan Howe, along with New Directions editor, poet, and translator Jeffrey Yang, will read during the day-long festival. All the details are here.

 


New Directions The New Directions 75th Anniversary Celebration at Cooper Union

On October 27th, at historical Cooper Union in New York, fans of New Directions will gather to read from their favorite pieces of writing. Lou Reed, Francine Prose, Nicole Krauss, Frederic Tuten, Anne Carson, Francisco Goldman, Paul Auster, Siri Hustvedt, and Helen DeWitt will all be there, along with many others.

Helen DeWitt Events

Author Helen DeWitt, whose second novel Lightning Rods is now on sale (read an early review in Bookforum), continues to tour for her new book. Events scheduled so far include:

Reading at Brandeis University in Waltham, MA on Monday, October 17th, 5:30pm.  Details here.

Reading at the Harvard Coop in Boston on Tuesday, October 18th, 7pm. Details here.

Reading at BAM in Brooklyn as part of their ongoing "Between the Lines" series on Thursday, November 10th, 8pm.  Details here.

As part of the fifth annual Poets Forum, Susan Howe, Winner of the 2010 Bollingen Prize for Poetry, will offer the Blaney lecture on poetry and telepathy (!) at NYU's Greenberg Lounge on the afternoon of Friday, October 21st, 3:30pm. Details here.

Michael Palmer will deliver the Morris Gray Lecture at Harvard University on Monday October 17th at 5:30pm. Details here

Eliot Weinberger will be joined by Lydia Davis for a "True Stories Nonfiction" reading at the KGB Bar in New York on Tuesday, October 25th, 7pm. Details here.  To RSVP via FB, click here

Also on October 25, 6pm, Bernadette Mayer will read at ACA Galleries as part of NYC's annual Boog City poetry festival.  Station Hill of Barrytown will host.

On November 3rd, 7pm, The Americas Society will host an evening devoted to By Word of Mouth: Poems from the Spanish, 1916-1959, by William Carlos Williams and edited by Jonathan Cohen, who will be there to read from the collection and discuss the book. Details here.
